Neil Sharma, MD, earned his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center. He served as chief resident and received numerous accolades for education and teaching, and went on to complete fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. He then pursued additional Fellowship training in advanced interventional endoscopy with a focus on endoscopic oncology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Sharma has served as the founder and Director of both advanced interventional endoscopy and endoscopic oncology programs at Parkview since 2013. These programs have blossomed under his leadership, increasing the spectrum of surgical endoscopy and GI oncology patients and interventions year after year. The programs, now called Interventional Oncology & Surgical Endoscopy (IOSE), are committed to being leaders in innovation and state of the art care. Dr. Sharma is committed to research, teaching, and clinical trials in interventional endoscopy, esophageal, and pancreatic cancers. In 2017 he established the interventional endoscopy fellowship which participates in the ASGE match. Dr. Sharma serves on faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has spoken at ACG and ASGE postgraduate courses as well as numerous conferences in endoscopy and GI cancers. He has over 100 abstracts and peer reviewed publications. In 2014 Dr. Sharma was asked to serve the Medical Director for the GI Oncology program. This program was the prototype for comprehensive multidisciplinary care for the region, and redesigned the patient care model. In 2016 Dr Sharma was asked to serve as the President of the Parkview Cancer Institute (PCI). He leads the growth, strategy, programmatic development, and recruitment for cancer services at PCI & Parkview Health. PCI has rapidly grown becoming a destination cancer Institute for the region.
