Mohit Girotra, MD, FACG, is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist at the Digestive Health Institute at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. He was formerly an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, in Miami, FL. Dr. Girotra completed medical school at the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana, India, before joining the Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Internal Medicine Residency program where he served for an additional year as Chief Resident. During that time, he became invested with activities of the ACP, and served as Co-Chair for ACP-Chief Residents Association of Baltimore. He then completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), where he was also nominated as the Chief Fellow. He served as general GI faculty at UAMS, before pursuing a therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Girotra has been actively involved in education and mentoring of GI fellows, IM residents and medical students, and takes pride in helping his residents/fellows excel academically. As an ACG Training Committee member, he served as a Co-Director of the ACG Second Year Fellows Course in 2016. He participates in the ACG Mentorship Program, and also is current member of ACG's Digital Communications and Publications Committee and the Practice Parameters Committee. Dr. Girotra is extremely passionate about research, and has received the Mendeloff award and the ACP Maryland Chapter research award, as well as extramural funding to support his clinical research. His clinical and research interests include therapeutic pancreatico-biliary endoscopy (ERCP, EUS), advanced luminal endoscopy (RFA, Stenting), emerging technologies, endoscopic innovation, fecal microbiota transplantation and general endoscopy.
