Swapna Gayam, MD, FACG, is a general gastroenterologist with practice focus on Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Another area of interest is the role of food/ diet in IBS. Swapna Gayam also has a keen interest in climate change mitigation strategies, especially reducing healthcare contribution. Gastroenterology, being a procedure intense specialty, uses numerous tools and resources, making it one of the highest contributors to healthcare carbon footprint. Dr. Gayam's research focuses on assessing the different ways GI contributes to carbon emissions and ways to reduce.
