Elizabeth Paine, MD, received her BS in Biology from the University of the South (Sewanee) and her MD at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Digestive Diseases Fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She joined the staff at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in 2013 as the only full-time GI physician, and she was named GI Section Chief in 2019. She was also named an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2013 and then earned Associate Professor in 2019. She was promoted to Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care in 2023. Dr. Paine is involved in national VA GI service as the chair of the VA GI Field Advisory Board, and she serves as a member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease and GI Section Chief Subcommittees of this Board. She serves as an active member of the ACG, where she was selected to be in the first cohort of the ACG Young Leadership Scholarship Program (now Early Career Leadership Program) and is now one of two Co-Directors for this program. She previously served on the ACG Trainee Committee and currently serves on the ACG Educational Affairs Committee. She was named a Fellow of the ACG in 2017.
