Gregory Cote, MD, MS, is a gastroenterologist with expertise in medical pancreatology and interventional endoscopy, as well as a clinician scientist whose research program focuses on clinical trials and outcomes research pertaining to pancreatobiliary diseases including acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and its precursors, bile duct strictures, and gallstone-related diseases. Dr. Cote is the Principal Investigator for two NIH-funded studies: the SpHincterotomy for Acute Recurrent Pancreatitis (SHARP) trial, a sham controlled, international, multi center, randomized clinical trial evaluating the role of endoscopic minor papillotomy in the treatment of patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis and pancreas divisum, and the Results of Ercp in SPhincter of Oddi Dysfunction (RESPOnD) study, a multicenter, longitudinal cohort study evaluating the role of ERCP and sphincterootmy in the treatment of patients with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction and idiopathic recurrent acute pancreatitis. He is also leading a pilot, sham controlled study of pancreatic endotherapy in patients with painful chronic pancreatitis that is supported by the Department of Defense (Pancreatic Endotherapy for Refractory Chronic PancreaTitis - PERCePT).
