Afrin Kamal, MD, MS, grew up in small town Missouri, and completed a 6-year BA/MD program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, followed by internal medicine residency training at Washington University and gastroenterology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Kamal is focused in promoting effective patient-physician communication and enhancing patient engagement, in efforts to improve the quality of care for patients suffering with esophageal diseases. In doing so, she has collaborated with many national esophageal experts to develop communication aids (Question Prompt Lists) that aims to provide an “it’s okay to ask” environment when patients meet with his/her physician.
