Sunil Amin, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he also serves as System Wide Director of Endoscopy for the University of Miami Health System. Dr. Amin received his medical degree from the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York, where he also completed a Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Following this general GI training, Dr. Amin returned to Columbia University to complete an additional year of training in therapeutic endoscopy. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Miami, Dr. Amin was on staff at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Amin is board certified in both the United States and Canada in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. In 2020, Dr. Amin was one of three physicians awarded a prestigious Endoscopic Training Award by the ASGE. With these funds, Dr. Amin was able to complete intensive training in per-oral endoscopy myotomy (POEM), gastric per-oral endoscopy myotomy (G-POEM), and endoscopic sub-mucosal dissection (ESD) in Prague, Czech Republic, under the mentorship of renowned endoscopist Dr. Jan Martinek at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). Dr. Amin is passionate about being able to offer these new procedures to the residents of South Florida. Dr. Amin has published extensively in both general gastroenterology and therapeutic endoscopy. His research has been featured in journals such as Gastroenterology, Cancer, The American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
